![]() Having successfully repulsed an invasion by Ptolemy of Egypt, Pontus is now poised to expand across. In 302 BCE, under Mithridates Ktistes (‘The Founder’), it split from the Macedonian empire during the turmoil of the Wars of the Successors. So, when is it possible to liberate? I've done a bunch of googling with no clear answers and I'm hoping that by asking here I can get more of a straight answer. Essentially, Pontus is now a collection of Greek colonies, ruled by a re-emergent Persian dynasty. I assaulted Treverorum and even though it was the former capital of a single-province celtic tribe, I wasn't able to liberate it or make it a client state, and was forced to either occupy, loot or raze the city. The Nervii have Treverorum and Bagacum, which is their capital. The GC have only Nemetocenna, and having beaten them in battle and assaulted the city I've managed to subjugate them. I'm something of a stickler and I don't want my borders to be messy, and I want to take all of the regions in a province when I have one.Ĭase in point, I'm at war with the Gallic Confederation and Nervii. Fielding 500 war elephants, gained through negotiating peace on his eastern border with the Emperor. Seleucus sealed his overall victory at the Battle of Ipsus in 301 BCE. I don't want to have the occasional city in provinces far away. During the turmoil of the Wars of the Successors, the Seleucids were able to claim and expand Alexander the Great’s eastern empire, as well as parts of Asia Minor. Now, I'm trying to make a bunch of client states in Germania and have been pretty successful so far in subjugating the single-province states, and am about to try chipping away at the multi-province Celtic and Germanic blobs, but I've noticed that I'm not able to liberate factions when taking cities. I have conquered Gaul, Hispania, and toppled Carthage, and am now working my way against the Greeks.
